9 STEM Adelaide Uni Visit
On Thursday 23 February, students from the 9 STEM program attended an excursion to Adelaide Uni as part of a collaboration between the STEM topic (Extra-terrestrial terrains) and the university's new course on Extra-Terrestrial Geoscience.
Run by the amazing Dr Lucy McGee, students attended a series of mini lectures on space geoscience, conducted a practical with asteroid samples and analysed impact craters. They visited the university’s Engineering department where they learnt about the current materials and rover projects, including using Regolith (moon dust) to build bricks for future construction and testing rovers in the simulated lunar surface as part of future missions to establish a base on the moon.
