Knock Out Basketball State Championships

On Wednesday 20 September, a group of year 7-10 girls travelled to Kildare College to participate in the first round of the State Knock out Championships for Basketball. A star-studded line up, the girls were eager to impress and advance to the State finals next term.

Their first game saw the girls make light work against the home team, Kildare. In a selfless and team orientated display, they dominated from the first possession. Polly led the charge, controlling all aspects of the game and finding her teammates for open shots. Georgia, relentlessly attacked the paint, putting pressure on the defence and scoring at will. In the end, the girls won 85-22 in an overwhelming display.

Game two saw the girls come up against Pedare College, with a win putting us through to the finals. Out of the blocks, we came out firing, playing with energy and enthusiasm. Ava was a menace on both sides of the floor, with her partner in crime Gloria, a force inside the key. The twin towers of Eloise and Lucy were dominant, with fellow year 7 Lara also spectacular. The girls took out the win 78-12 in a jaw dropping performance.

The girls will now will play in the State Finals at Wayville Basketball Centre in Term 4.
