School Sport Review - Term 3, Week 4
The fourth week of the term marked the end point for the Term 2/3 Winter Season, with majority of our teams competing in their final match of the program. In closing out the season, would personally like to extend my appreciation to all who have contributed to the season, especially all our coaches, families and players.
Mixed Table Tennis:
The Mixed Table Tennis team ended their season in emphatic fashion with their demolition of Prince Alfred College. The team were consistently stronger across the floor, failing to drop a set across all matches. Lily and Daniel were excellent on the evening, cruising to victory and enjoying what has been a successful season.
Girls Badminton:
The Open A Girls geared up for their showdown, grand-final against St. Ignatius College on Saturday. It was high stakes for the girls as the winners were to be crowned the top side in the Catholic Girls badminton competition. From the outset, the girls evidenced they were out to claim the top prize as they moved to early lead. The form followed soon after, as key figures Duangchai & Tavleen fired up to take a strong hold on proceedings. The match ended with a resounding 6-0 victory to Norwood, emphasising the strength of the team who has proved to be a dominant force across the season. Congratulations must be awarded to Tavleen, Simarprabh, Duangchai, Aleena, Tanisha, and Lina on their tremendous season under the guidance of super coach Danny Huynh.
In other badminton news, the Senior B and Middle B teams also put up strong performances to round out the season with NIHS Senior B defeating St. Dominic’s Priory College 4-2 and Middle B2, unfortunately falling to St. Dominic’s Priory College in their 1st place decider with a score of 2-4. Marie, Annabel, Stephanie, and Yodi were all stand out players for their respective teams.

Girls Netball:
With both our Senior and Year 8 teams encountering a bye in their final week, all eyes shifted to the Year 9 side who team who were looking to finish on a high with St. Ignatius standing in the way. The match proved to be intense of both teams fought for the upper hand in a low scoring, rain effected affair. Pleasingly, it was Norwood who found the edge, emerging 5 points the better (19-14). Bella and Abby were sensational in the win, an example of the entire team’s development throughout the season.
Boys Basketball:
Senior
The basketball boys rounded out their season in a clash against Mercedes College over the weekend in what would be many of our senior’s final appearance in a Norwood Jersey. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the Open A and B sides who ultimately fell short of victory in their matches (36-43), (26-52) despite the herculean efforts of Daniel who left no stone unturned in playing back to back games and was being influential in both.
It was all celebrations in the Open C camp however, who secured a 10 point victory over the same opposition (41-31). Zuber and Dominik were crucial in the win, providing the team with much needed energy on both end of the floor.

Middle
The Middle A Boys Basketball team exhibited a dominant performance on Saturday, securing a commanding 20 point win. Arnav and Muhammed shot the lights out in the Unley gym, proving instrumental in their team's triumph.
The Middle B team had spectators pulse checking as they clinched a spectacular ‘buzz beater’ victory. Ari made himself the hero, making a shot with 1 second on the clock to secure a 2 point win.
The Middle C team were not so lucky, suffering a heavy 28 point defeat against a strong opponent. Tobey and Valentino gave their all on the court despite the outcome.
Boys Soccer:
The Middle A Boys Soccer team enjoyed a bye week to round out what has been another entertaining and successful season.
