School Sport Review - Week 4

The Term 1 school sport season officially kicked off last week, with many of our students representing the school in volleyball, badminton, tennis, cricket and basketball.
Volleyball
Boys
The Middle C2 team starting proceedings with a see-sawing victory over Pedare Christian College, winning 2-1 in overall sets. The best players of the match were Lucas and Ron.
Girls
The Middle A/B team played an exciting match against Mary MacKillop College despite going down 1-2 in the end. The family pairing of Lucy and Natalia performed strongly across the duration of the match despite the loss. Unfortunately, both the Middle B1 and C1 teams suffered the same fate, going down in hard fought matches against MMC and Gleeson respectively despite the best efforts of Ayla (B1) and Hannah (B1) along with Karenza (C1) and Yodi (C1).
Mixed Badminton
Senior
The senior A1 and B1 teams fronted up against a tough competition in Pembroke School last week. The A1 team put up a good fight but eventually fell short, losing 3-6 despite strong performances from Carson and Duangchai. On the flip side, the B1 team ran out comfortable winners with a score line reading 9-2. Ethan and Isaac were standout performers in this fixture. The B3 team also put in a dominant display against a light on St. John’s outfit, rounding out winners 10-2, with Anderson and Koki starring in the comfortable win.

Middle
Much like our senior teams, the middle A2 and B2 teams came up against tough opposition in Pembroke. Despite strong efforts from Simarprabh (A2) and Tobey (B2), both teams were defeated and will look to respond in next week’s clash with CBC.
Tennis
Our Middle C2 team took to the warming courts on Saturday morning in their first encounter with Concordia College. Unfortunately, it was Concordia who brought the heat, rounding out winners (4-8). Rayhan and David produced strong performances to win both their singles matches on the day.

Cricket
NIHS's Middle A3 team padded up against St Ignatius College in their first match of the season and started well with the bat, led by Lucas and Disha. Unfortunately, it was St. Ignatius who went on to win by a margin of 88 runs.
Girls Basketball
Despite strong effort and encouraging performances from Alycia (A/B) and Rachel (C1), both our middle girls' teams fell short of victories against Sacred Heart and Nazareth College. The girls will be back on the court next week looking to turn things around.
