School Sport Review - Week 4

In another thrilling week of sporting action, the NIHS girls' badminton and boys' soccer teams from NIHS showcased their dominance with resounding victories. However, the girls' netball and boys' basketball teams were unable overcome strong opposition.



Girls Badminton

Senior

The Senior A team continued their strong form against St. Ignatius College with an impressive 6-0 score line, strengthening their claims as a competition powerhouse. Simarprabh and Tavleen were standouts on Saturday, contributing significantly to the team's triumph.


The Senior B team came agonisingly close to snatching a win against St. Dominic's Priory College with the match ended in a 3-3 draw, however St. Dominic's edging ahead on a total points decision. Despite the loss, Uma and Marie showcased their prowess and were recognized as the best players on the day.


Middle

The Middle B girls also faced Dominic's Priory College, ultimately succumbing to a quality team, going down 1-5. Vinuthi Herath and Yodi showed strong character and resilience despite the loss.


Girls Netball

Senior

The Senior B girls got off to a strong start against Marryatville High School however were ultimately defeated with the score line reading 12-27. Isabelle and Rachel gave their all on court however, fighting it out until the final whistle.


The Year 9 B girls' team put in an outstanding effort on Saturday against Marryatville High School with all players being highlighted for their commitment and contribution to the team. Unfortunately, it was Marryatville who took the spoils however, rounding out narrow winners with a score line of 25-29.


The Year 8 girls' netball were faced with a monumental challenge on the weekend, facing a strong St. Ignatius team. Unfortunately for the girls, it was a challenge to great, suffering a heavy defeat 4-39. Katie and Saachi were recognized as the best players on the day as the girls look forward to the re-grading process occurring at the completion of round 4.


Boys Basketball

It was tough going for all our middle and senior basketball sides on Saturday, coming up against St. Paul’s College. Scores and best players for each of the games are as follows.


Senior A

Result: 35-96 (Loss)

Best Players: Edward, John


Senior B

Result: 24-38 (Loss)

Best Players: Patrick, Kingsley Yong


Senior C

Result: 6-65 (Loss)

Best Players: Dominik, Zuber


Middle A

Result: 49-53 (Loss)

Best Players: Arnav, Etienne


Middle B

Results: 44-49 (Loss)

Best Players: Saaim, Owen


Middle C

Results: 36-46 (Loss)

Best Players: Ari, Valentino


Boys Soccer

On a more positive note, the Middle A soccer team showcased their dominance as they notched up their first win of the season, defeating Woodcroft College 7-0 at home. Kalvin had his sights set on taking home the match ball, registering a hat trick in a stellar display.
