Year 9 Humanities at the Adelaide Central Market

Year 9 Humanities students participated in a guided tour of the Adelaide Central Market specifically designed to cover areas of the Geography curriculum our classes have been learning about this term.

Students interviewed some of the stallholders and producers whose families have traded at the Market for generations, learnt about the history and evolution of the Market, and its importance in interconnecting different people and places, and building both the social and economic needs of the community. Whilst touring, students had the opportunity to taste a delicious selection of foods, with the most popular tasting being the Mediterranean sweets store's Turkish Delight, and the most unusual being an Indigenous green called karkalla from Something Wild. Students documented their experiences in an information report outlining aspects they investigated during their tour of the Market.
